Visiting Luxor Landmarks
After having your breakfast, our tour guide will accompany you to visit the most important place in Luxor:
The Valley of the Kings, located on Luxor’s west bank, served as the royal burial ground for Egypt’s New Kingdom pharaohs (1550–1070 BC). It contains 63 tombs decorated with detailed scenes from Egyptian mythology, which display the funerary and religious beliefs of the ancient Egyptian royal members.
Then walk with the tour guide to witness:
The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (1508–1458 BC) at Deir el-Bahari was built during her reign and dedicated to Amun. It features three terraces connected by ramps and is one of the most striking examples of ancient Egyptian architecture. In 1479, the three floors of the temple were completed to honor her successful career as a ruler and her role as the wife priestess of the creator god Amun.
Move to have your lunch, then continue to visit:
The Colossi of Memnon are two seated twin massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III (1391–1353 BC). The statues were carved from quartzite blocks transported approximately 700 km from quarries near Cairo to Luxor. These colossal wonders have a height of 18 m (60 ft) and have a number of great inscriptions across their base. The colossi were built many times during the Greco-Roman period.
After that, turn to the holy temple in Luxor:
Karnak Temple is a golden religious capital that was built between 1971 and 30 BC to be a center for worship for several gods, which include the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. The complex is a true artistic masterpiece of shrines, temples, and pylons, plus the Avenue of Sphinxes once connected Karnak Temple to Luxor Temple and was used during the Opet Festival.
